Hey friend, check out this cool laptop I’ve been testing: the Framework Laptop 12. It’s a 2-in-1, meaning it’s a laptop that can also fold into tablet mode, and it’s seriously one of the best-looking laptops I’ve ever seen. Think vibrant pastel colors (I got the pink and blue – it’s awesome!) and a retro-style keyboard. It’s not just pretty though; it’s built to last.

Framework is all about repairability and upgradability. The Laptop 12 is no exception. The case is made of durable plastic with reinforced TPU edges, making it super resilient – perfect for students or anyone a bit clumsy. The best part? You can easily swap out parts yourself. Changing the SSD is tool-free, and even the screen replacement is dead simple. This makes it incredibly long-lasting and potentially very cost-effective in the long run.

But let’s be real, it’s not perfect. The starting specs are a bit underwhelming – an older (but still decent) 13th Gen Intel Core i3 processor and only 8GB of RAM. While it handles everyday tasks well, you’ll definitely notice it struggling with more demanding applications. The keyboard is nice-looking, but the typing experience isn’t quite as satisfying as some others. Also, no Windows Hello – you’re stuck with the password entry method.

The bezels are pretty chunky, and the webcam is only average. However, the display itself is bright and responsive to touch input (and stylus, which is a nice bonus). The battery life is good enough for a full workday, but heavy use will drain it faster. My review unit had 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, bumping the price considerably from the $799 starting price to over $1000. That’s a pretty hefty price tag, especially considering the less-than-stellar specs.

So, who is this laptop for? If you value repairability, upgradability, and a unique design, and you don’t need top-tier performance, then the Framework Laptop 12 is a great option. It’s ideal for students or anyone who wants a long-lasting, easily maintainable machine. However, if you need raw power or the latest and greatest features, you’ll likely find better options at a similar price point. The potential for future upgrades is a big selling point, but it’s a gamble – Framework has to deliver on that promise.

Overall, the Framework Laptop 12 is a fun, quirky laptop with a lot of potential. It’s a bit of a niche product, but for the right person, it could be absolutely perfect.
