Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has lifted the downtown curfew implemented seven days prior in response to violence and vandalism during immigration enforcement protest demonstrations. The curfew, initially spanning from the 5 and 10 freeways to the 110, was shortened the previous day before ultimately being lifted.

While officials deemed the curfew effective in mitigating further damage, it negatively impacted businesses operating within the restricted zone, forcing reduced hours. The mayor’s statement credits the curfew with protecting businesses and residential areas from disruptive elements unrelated to the core protest message.
