Tropical Storm Jerry is rapidly intensifying and is on track to become a hurricane within the next 24 to 48 hours, posing a significant threat to the northern Leeward Islands. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported Tuesday morning that Invest-95 has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Jerry.

As of the latest update, Jerry is moving west at approximately 24 mph with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and a minimum central pressure of 1006 mb. A decrease in forward speed and a turn to the west-northwest is anticipated over the next couple of days.

On its current forecast track, the core of Tropical Storm Jerry is expected to be near or to the north of the northern Leeward Islands late Thursday and Friday. Residents in these areas should prepare for life-threatening surf and rip current conditions as swells generated by Jerry are forecast to reach the islands by Thursday.

While it is too early to determine any potential impact on Florida or the U.S. mainland, authorities urge continuous monitoring of Jerry’s progression as the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season continues.
