In a phone call on June 14th, lasting approximately one hour, President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. Both leaders expressed deep concern over the potential for further escalation and its unpredictable consequences for the Middle East.

According to a post on Truth Social by President Trump, he and President Putin share the view that the conflict “should end.” The Kremlin confirmed the conversation, with aide Yuri Ushakov stating that President Putin condemned Israel’s military operation against Iran and highlighted the serious risks of further escalation.

Ushakov further reported that President Trump described the situation in the Middle East as “very alarming.” Both leaders indicated openness to a renewed diplomatic effort regarding Iran’s nuclear program.

The conversation also touched on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. President Putin informed President Trump of Russia’s willingness to resume negotiations with Ukraine after June 22nd. President Trump reiterated his desire for a swift resolution to the Ukrainian conflict.

The call concluded with President Putin extending birthday wishes to President Trump, who turned 79 on June 14th.
