Following its destructive sweep across the southern coast of China on Wednesday, Super Typhoon Ragasa has weakened, leaving behind a trail of flooding and disruption. Hong Kong, which issued its highest-level typhoon warning, is now assessing the damage after the storm passed the city yesterday afternoon.

Ragasa, which made landfall near Guangdong, prompted the evacuation of approximately two million people. While the storm is expected to dissipate as it moves inland towards Vietnam and Laos, the immediate focus shifts to recovery efforts and the full extent of the damage.

The powerful typhoon had already caused significant devastation in Taiwan, where officials reported at least 15 fatalities, and in the Philippines before reaching mainland China. Authorities in affected regions are urging residents to remain cautious, warning of lingering dangers from flooding and damaged infrastructure.
