North Texas airports, including Dallas-Fort Worth International (DFW) and Dallas Love Field, experienced significant flight disruptions throughout Friday, September 19, 2025, due to a reported equipment malfunction affecting air traffic control facilities. Travelers faced widespread delays and ground stops, with some disruptions extending late into the evening.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that a telephone outage, not involving its own equipment, at the Dallas TRACON facility was the root cause. This led to ground stops for arriving flights at virtually all significant North Texas airports, including Meacham, Alliance, Addison, McKinney, Arlington, and Dallas Executive.

By 6 p.m. Friday, flight tracking data indicated 668 delayed flights at DFW and 167 at Dallas Love Field. American Airlines, a major carrier based in North Texas, issued a travel alert, waiving change fees for passengers affected by the delays at DFW Airport.

This marks the second consecutive day of significant air travel issues for the region, following telecommunication problems that impacted the Fort Worth Air Route Traffic Control Center on Thursday, September 18, 2025. Passengers are strongly advised to check with their respective airlines for the most current flight status before heading to the airport.
