Suspected Remains of Fugitive Travis Decker Discovered in Washington State

Authorities in Washington state have announced the discovery of human remains believed to be those of Travis Decker, the fugitive father accused of killing his three young daughters earlier this year. The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office stated Thursday evening that while positive identification is still pending DNA analysis, preliminary findings strongly suggest the remains belong to Decker.
The remains were found in a remote wooded area south of Leavenworth, specifically on Grindstone Mountain, located just a few miles from where Decker’s daughters’ bodies were tragically discovered. Investigators are currently processing the scene, noting that items such as clothing found near the remains are consistent with what Decker was last seen wearing. Personal items were also recovered.
Decker, a 32-year-old former Army soldier with survival skills, became the subject of an extensive manhunt after being accused in May of murdering his daughters—9-year-old Paityn, 8-year-old Evelyn, and 5-year-old Olivia. Their bodies were found in the Cascade Mountains with their wrists bound, and autopsies confirmed suffocation as the cause of death. The search for Decker has involved significant resources, including drones and cadaver dogs, and followed a previous false lead earlier this month when bones found by the FBI were determined not to be human.
