Investigation Underway After Guest Dies on Epic Universe Roller Coaster

A somber incident has cast a shadow over Universal’s new Epic Universe theme park in Orlando, Florida, following the death of a guest on Wednesday after riding a roller coaster. Park officials confirmed the tragic event in a statement, identifying the ride as Stardust Racers.
The individual, a man in his 30s whose identity has not yet been released, became unresponsive while on the attraction. Off-duty deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office discovered the man and he was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The cause of death remains unclear, and the District Nine Medical Examiner’s Office is currently conducting an examination. As of Thursday morning, Stardust Racers has been closed, pending the ongoing investigation.
Universal spokespersons expressed their deepest sympathies, stating, “We are devastated by this tragic event and extend our sincerest sympathies to the guest’s loved ones.” The park is fully cooperating with the Sheriff’s Office in their inquiry into the incident.
Epic Universe, which opened its doors in May, features a range of highly anticipated attractions, including Nintendo World and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s Ministry of Magic.
