An urgent, wide-ranging search is underway across Egypt following the disappearance of a rare 3,000-year-old gold bracelet from a leading museum in Cairo. Authorities initiated immediate measures after the ancient artifact, adorned with spherical lapis lazuli beads, was reported missing from the Egyptian Museum’s restoration laboratory just hours ago.

The invaluable gold band dates back to the reign of King Amenemope, a pharaoh of ancient Egypt’s 21st Dynasty. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has referred the case to police, with an image of the missing bracelet circulated to all Egyptian airports, seaports, and land border crossings as a critical step to prevent any attempts at smuggling it out of the country.

In response to the high-profile theft, a specialist committee has also been formed to conduct a comprehensive inventory and review of all artifacts currently housed within the restoration laboratory, emphasizing the gravity of the loss to Egypt’s cultural heritage.
