Two high-profile proposals for new casinos in Manhattan, including a prominent bid for Times Square, have been definitively halted after community advisory committees rejected the projects in crucial votes held on Wednesday. This outcome prevents the developments from advancing to the New York Gaming Facility Location Board for further consideration.

The ambitious ‘Caesars Palace Times Square’ project, backed by SL Green Realty Corp. and Caesars Entertainment Inc., failed to secure the necessary community support. Simultaneously, a separate proposal for a casino on undeveloped West Side land, championed by Silverstein Properties, Rush Street Gaming, and Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, also met with rejection from its respective community advisory committee. Following the news, shares of SL Green experienced a decline.
