VP Vance Hosts Charlie Kirk Show, Vows Justice and Targets Extremism After Assassination

Washington D.C. — Vice President JD Vance took the helm of “The Charlie Kirk Show” on Monday, September 15, delivering a powerful tribute to his slain friend and conservative activist, Charlie Kirk. Speaking from the White House complex, Vance vowed to pursue justice for Kirk’s assassination and strongly condemned what he termed “left-wing extremism,” which he believes contributed to the tragedy.
Kirk, 31, was tragically shot and killed last week during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Following his death, Vice President Vance personally flew Kirk’s body on Air Force Two from Utah to his home state of Arizona, canceling a planned Sept. 11 remembrance trip to do so. Vance described Kirk as a “true friend” and “the smartest political operative I ever met,” acknowledging his pivotal role in Vance’s own political rise and the success of the current administration. President Trump has announced Kirk will be posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
During the broadcast, which featured high-profile guests including White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, ex-Fox News host Tucker Carlson, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Vance asserted that “we have to make sure that the killer is brought to justice.” Miller amplified this sentiment, pledging that the Department of Justice and Homeland Security would deploy “every resource” to “identify, disrupt, dismantle and destroy these networks” of organized extremism.
While acknowledging calls for unity, Vance insisted that “first, we must tell the truth,” claiming that political violence is a “bigger and malignant problem” on the left. Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, echoed the commitment to her husband’s mission, stating that “the movement my husband built will not die” and confirming the continuation of his popular radio and podcast show. A memorial service for Charlie Kirk is scheduled for September 21 in Arizona.
