Samsung Budget Phones Outsell iPhone 16e in Q2 2025, Counterpoint Reports

New data from Counterpoint Research reveals that while Apple’s iPhone 16 series dominated the top spots, two budget-friendly Samsung Galaxy phones surprisingly outperformed the iPhone 16e in Q2 2025 sales. The report, which details the quarter’s best-selling smartphones, highlights a significant win for Samsung’s affordable offerings.
The iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 Pro secured the top three positions. However, the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G and Galaxy A06 4G claimed fourth and fifth place, respectively, both outselling the iPhone 16e, which landed in sixth. This performance underscores the strong market presence and value proposition of Samsung’s A-series devices, particularly against Apple’s entry-level premium model.
Analysts suggest pricing was a major factor, with the Galaxy A16 5G retailing for around $200 and the A06 4G for approximately $110, significantly undercutting the iPhone 16e’s $599 launch price. Other notable entries in the top ten included the Galaxy A16 4G, Galaxy S25 Ultra, and the Xiaomi Redmi 14C 4G, breaking the Apple-Samsung duopoly in ninth place, driven by strong performance in emerging markets.
