Donkey Kong Bananza Unleashes Massive 2.0.0 Update and New DLC

Nintendo has officially rolled out a significant update for Donkey Kong Bananza, bringing the game to Version 2.0.0, alongside the immediate availability of new paid downloadable content, ‘DK Island & Emerald Rush’. The update, released on September 12, 2025, follows closely after its announcement during a recent Nintendo Direct broadcast, surprising fans with fresh content just months after the game’s initial launch on the Switch 2.
The centerpiece of this update is the ‘DK Island & Emerald Rush’ DLC, priced at $19.99 / £16.99. Players can access the new island by interacting with Squawks in the Racing Layer if they haven’t cleared the main game, or by striking the Warp Gong after hearing about the “Bananza Rehearsal” from the Elder for those who have. Once on DK Island, the Emerald Rush content can be initiated by speaking with Void Kong.
Beyond the paid expansion, the Version 2.0.0 update introduces several enhancements to the base game. Notably, the maximum storage for Banandium Chips has been significantly increased from 9,999 to 99,999, offering players more capacity for their in-game currency. Additionally, Nintendo has implemented various other changes and addressed existing issues to deliver an overall improved gameplay experience for all users.
For those still contemplating a dive into DK’s latest adventure, a new demo for Donkey Kong Bananza is now available for download from the Nintendo eShop on the Switch 2.
