The male student suspected in Wednesday’s shooting at Evergreen High School in Colorado has died from self-inflicted injuries, authorities confirmed. The two teenage students injured in the attack are now reported to be in stable condition.

The incident unfolded around 12:30 pm (18:30 GMT) at the high school, located in a small town outside Denver. Jeffco County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jacki Kelley stated that the suspect, a juvenile male student, used a revolver handgun in the attack.

Police officers responding to the scene did not fire at the suspect. The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) have joined the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office in a comprehensive investigation. Authorities are currently probing multiple locations inside and outside the school where shots were fired, and are focusing on understanding the suspect’s motive by examining his home, car, and locker.
