Six people were killed and 12 wounded yesterday in a brutal shooting attack at a Jerusalem bus stop during Monday morning’s rush hour. Two Palestinian gunmen opened fire on civilians before being neutralized by an Israeli soldier and other armed individuals at the scene, according to Israeli officials. A third suspect has since been arrested in connection with the incident.

The attack, which saw dozens flee in panic and left a bus windshield riddled with bullets, marks the deadliest in Israel since October 2024. It comes amidst a significant escalation of violence in Israel and the occupied West Bank, fueled by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Hamas praised the assault as a “natural response to the occupation’s crimes” but did not claim responsibility. Meanwhile, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas condemned “any targeting of Palestinian and Israeli civilians” and denounced “all forms of violence and terrorism.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the scene, commending the rapid response and pledging severe military action. He warned of intensified raids against what he termed “nests of terror” in the West Bank, echoing previous operations that caused widespread destruction. In the immediate aftermath, Israeli security forces have encircled Palestinian villages on the outskirts of Ramallah as they step up defense measures.
