Supertramp Co-Founder Rick Davies Dies at 81

Rick Davies, the co-founder, frontman, and a principal songwriter of the iconic British band Supertramp, has passed away at the age of 81. The band confirmed his death, stating he died on September 5th at his home on Long Island after a long battle with cancer.
Davies was instrumental in Supertramp’s evolution from a progressive-rock group to a global phenomenon, particularly with their chart-topping album “Breakfast in America.” He penned and sang many of the band’s memorable hits, including “Goodbye Stranger” and “Bloody Well Right.”
Despite often being noted for his deeper voice compared to his former partner Roger Hodgson, Davies was the driving force who continued Supertramp after Hodgson’s departure in 1983. His legacy includes over five decades in music, having been diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2015.
