Israel Escalates Gaza City Offensive as Leaders Vow Decisive Victory

Israel’s leadership has affirmed its unwavering commitment to the war against Hamas, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declaring the conflict is entering its “decisive stage.” As the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intensifies operations, tens of thousands of reservists are being mobilized for an impending major offensive in Gaza City, a move aimed at achieving the complete defeat of Hamas.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir confirmed that the Gaza City campaign is already underway, with plans for expanded and intensified operations. Speaking to newly mobilized reservists, Zamir asserted, “We will not stop the war until we defeat this enemy,” emphasizing that Hamas will have no sanctuary. The IDF is reportedly poised to launch its main assault on Gaza City by mid-September.
Amid the escalating military actions, the IDF has urged all civilians, aid organizations, and medical personnel to evacuate Gaza City. Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee specifically directed residents to move to the coastal al-Mawasi area, designated as a humanitarian zone with promised improved services. This call comes as reports indicate only a fraction of Gaza City’s population has relocated, and as Hamas-run authorities reported dozens killed across the Strip on Tuesday, including children allegedly struck by an IDF drone.
The IDF announced significant successes in recent weeks, including the elimination of dozens of terror operatives planning attacks, such as Ahmad Abu Daf and Nukhba force member Taleb Sidqi Taleb Abu Atiwi. The military also confirmed the killing of a terrorist who held Israeli hostages released earlier this year. With the conflict now in its 23rd month since the October 7, 2023, attacks, Israel remains focused on dismantling Hamas, despite ongoing humanitarian concerns and reports of a rejected ceasefire deal that could release some of the remaining 48 hostages.
