Microsoft has commenced the rollout of the optional ‘2025-08 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2’ (KB5064081), introducing a wave of new features and improvements to Build 26100.5074. This significant update, now available, focuses on enriching the user experience through AI advancements, UI modernizations, and practical new functionalities.

Among the key highlights is a new, personalized homepage for Recall AI, designed to simplify the resumption of previous tasks, alongside updated AI components for Image Search and Content Extraction. Users will also appreciate the reintroduction of an option to display seconds in the Notification Center clock, complementing enhanced lock screen widgets that now offer greater customization.

Further refinements include a redesigned Windows Hello interface for a more streamlined login experience, a new Grid view layout for Taskbar search, and modernized Windows activation prompts within the Settings app. For PCs equipped with an NPU, a new Privacy & Security setting provides control over generative AI model usage by applications.

While available as an optional download via Windows Update (requiring the ‘Get latest updates…’ toggle), direct download links for the .msu offline installer are also provided. Users should be aware of the update’s substantial size due to integrated AI models. Despite numerous bug fixes, a known Network Device Interface (NDI) issue, which can affect streaming quality, persists.
