Microsoft Swiftly Fixes Windows Recovery & SSD Bug from Recent August Update

Windows users who encountered problems with their PC’s recovery and reset features following a recent August update can now breathe a sigh of relief. Microsoft has quickly deployed a fix for a significant bug that emerged with update KB5063875.
The issue, which primarily affected Windows 11 (versions 23H2 and 22H2) and Windows 10 (version 22H2), prevented users from successfully restoring their systems to factory defaults. Reports indicated that attempts to reset a PC would silently fail without any error message, leaving users unable to troubleshoot or prepare their devices for transfer.
Fortunately, Microsoft was swift to address the problem. The bug, first acknowledged on August 18, was officially resolved with the release of update KB5066189 on August 19. Users still experiencing difficulties with their Windows recovery options are advised to check for and install the latest available updates to resolve the issue.
