North Korea has strongly refuted South Korea’s assertions that it has dismantled propaganda loudspeakers along their shared border. Kim Yo Jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, declared that Pyongyang has “never removed” the speakers and has no intention of doing so.

In a statement published by state media KCNA on Thursday, Kim Yo Jong directly challenged earlier claims from South Korea’s military regarding the removal of the loudspeakers. She further underscored North Korea’s resolute stance on inter-Korean relations, stating, “We have clarified on several occasions that we have no will to improve relations with [South Korea],” and indicated this position would be enshrined in their constitution. This latest development follows reports earlier in the week that South Korea had itself removed some of its loudspeakers from the border area.
