President Donald Trump has announced his nomination of Tammy Bruce, currently the State Department spokesperson, to serve as the next U.S. Deputy Representative to the United Nations. The announcement, made by Trump on Truth Social, lauded Bruce as a “Great Patriot, Television Personality, and Bestselling Author.”

Bruce has been serving as the chief spokesperson for the State Department since Trump took office this year. Despite having no prior foreign policy experience before her January appointment as spokesperson, President Trump stated that she “will represent our Country brilliantly at the United Nations.”

Known for her extensive career as a radio host and over two decades as a commentator on Fox News, Bruce also previously served as president of the National Organization for Women’s Los Angeles chapter. Her public profile rose significantly with her shift to conservative views, detailed in her 2002 book, “The New Thought Police.” Bruce, a lesbian, has been a vocal opponent of transgender rights and has shared content spreading misinformation about the trans community.

As State Department spokesperson, she has consistently defended the Trump administration’s foreign policy decisions, including its mass deportation policies and its handling of the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.

Her confirmation now rests with the Republican-controlled Senate. Interestingly, if confirmed, Bruce could assume her post before Mike Waltz, the nominee for U.S. Ambassador to the UN, whose own Senate confirmation has reportedly been stalled by Senator Rand Paul.
