Soldier Shoots Five Troops at Georgia’s Fort Stewart: Investigation Ongoing

A soldier, identified as Sgt. Quornelius Radford, 28, allegedly shot five fellow troops at Fort Stewart, Georgia, before being subdued by brave soldiers, according to Brig. Gen. John Lubas, commanding general of the 3rd Infantry Division. Radford, an automated logistical sergeant from Jacksonville, Florida, assigned to the division’s 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, has been assigned to Fort Stewart since 2022 and has no previous combat deployments.
The incident occurred at the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team’s complex. Fellow soldiers intervened immediately, tackling Radford and allowing law enforcement to arrest him. Brig. Gen. Lubas praised their actions, stating they “without a doubt prevented further casualties.” Radford is currently in pre-trial confinement, and authorities confirm the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
Lubas stated he was unaware of any prior disciplinary or behavioral issues with Radford and confirmed a personal handgun was allegedly used in the shootings. The FBI’s Savannah office is coordinating with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division. The incident prompted a base-wide lockdown, which was lifted after Radford’s apprehension.
