Pat McAfee Slams ESPN ‘Suits’ Amidst Imminent $1.6 Billion WWE Deal Launch

ESPN host Pat McAfee has publicly criticized what he called ‘mid-level, powerless, bum ass suits’ at the network following the recent announcement of a historic $1.6 billion deal between WWE and ESPN. The five-year agreement will bring WWE’s premium live events, including WrestleMania and SummerSlam, to ESPN’s new direct-to-consumer service, set to launch later this month.
McAfee, a former WWE commentator, took to social media platform X to congratulate both organizations on the landmark partnership. However, he quickly pivoted to lambasting certain ESPN executives, suggesting they would attempt to ‘muddy’ the agreement through ‘out of context leaks’ or ‘ignorant anonymous opinions.’ He asserted the deal’s long-term success would ‘outlive the dinosaurs currently guarding desks in Bristol.’
This isn’t McAfee’s first clash with ESPN management. He previously accused former executive editor Norby Williamson, who departed ESPN in January, of trying to ‘sabotage’ his show in 2024. McAfee’s current five-year, $85 million deal with ESPN began in September 2023, and his role is expected to expand with the integration of WWE content.
