Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has expressed a strong sense of urgency regarding contract negotiations with All-Pro defensive end Micah Parsons, whose availability for Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles remains in question.

Speaking on Tuesday following a joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams, Jones confirmed that despite Parsons’ recent trade request, he remains with the team in Oxnard. However, Jones admitted he has not spoken directly with Parsons since the request, nor have team negotiators engaged with Parsons’ representatives. When pressed on when the situation becomes urgent, Jones simply stated, “I stay urgent.”

The stalemate has led to significant doubt about Parsons’ participation in the season opener. “No, absolutely not,” Jones replied when asked if he was confident Parsons would play Week 1, adding, “A big part of that is his decision. How would I know that? No, but I’m urgent… We will work through it or we won’t work through it.”

While the Parsons situation dominates headlines, Jones hinted at ongoing contract discussions with other key players, including DaRon Bland, Tyler Smith, and Brandon Aubrey, following Jake Ferguson’s recent extension. Despite the tension, Jones reiterated his high regard for Parsons, calling him “one of the brightest people I’ve ever been around” and acknowledging the challenge of integrating him into the team’s future plans.
