WWE Legend Hulk Hogan Dies at 71

Terry Gene Bollea, famously known as WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, has died at the age of 71. His family confirmed the passing on Thursday, stating, “It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we confirm we have lost a legend.”
Clearwater, Florida police and fire departments responded to a cardiac arrest call shortly before 10 a.m., transporting Hogan to Morton Plant Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities confirmed there were no signs of foul play, and the death remains under investigation.
Hogan’s passing prompted an outpouring of tributes from across the entertainment world, including from WWE and former President Donald Trump. WWE stated, “One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s.” Trump called Hogan a “great friend” and a “MAGA all the way” figure.
Hogan, a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, began his wrestling career in 1977. He became a global phenomenon in the 1980s with the WWE, transforming professional wrestling into a mainstream attraction with his larger-than-life persona, signature leg drop, and catchphrases like “Whatcha Gonna Do When Hulkamania Runs Wild On You!?” He held the WWE Championship six times.
Beyond the squared circle, Hogan parlayed his fame into a cultural icon, appearing in movies like “Rocky III” and “Mr. Nanny,” and numerous TV shows. He later revolutionized the industry again by turning heel as “Hollywood Hogan” leading the New World Order (NWO) in WCW.
Hogan’s career was not without controversy, including his testimony in Vince McMahon’s steroid trial, a high-profile lawsuit against Gawker over a sex tape, and a scandal involving racist remarks that led to his temporary removal from the WWE Hall of Fame. He was reinstated in 2018.
Most recently, Hogan appeared at the Republican National Convention in July 2024, endorsing Donald Trump. He is survived by his two children, Brooke and Nick, and his wife, Sky Daily.
