Apple Prepares iOS 18.6 Public Release, Issues Final Betas

Apple has just rolled out the Release Candidate (RC) betas for iOS 18.6, macOS 15.6, and other accompanying operating systems to both developers and public testers. This significant step signals that the official public launch of these updates is now imminent.

The simultaneous release of RC betas for iOS 18.6, iPadOS 18.6, macOS 15.6, tvOS 18.6, watchOS 11.6, and HomePod 18.6 – alongside visionOS 2.6 for developers – marks an acceleration in Apple’s typical release cycle. Notably, these RCs arrived just a week after beta 3, and public betas were made available concurrently with developer builds, both strong indicators that the final public release could happen as early as later this week, or by July 28 at the latest.

While these updates are primarily focused on stability and performance improvements, Apple is also incorporating several EU-related changes concerning third-party app marketplaces. Users should temper expectations for major new features, as the company’s primary focus remains on the upcoming iOS 26 and other major OS versions slated for release this fall.
