Just one week after its highly anticipated launch, Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold 7 is reportedly facing early scrutiny regarding its redesigned hinge mechanism. Users on Reddit are claiming that some store display units of the ultra-thin foldable phone are not unfolding completely flat, exhibiting a slight crease or gap at the hinge.

These initial reports suggest potential inconsistencies in the device’s new Armor FlexHinge, which Samsung engineered for improved durability and a thinner profile. While some Reddit users and Android Central staff who tested the device personally report no issues, others have observed the problem in store models, raising questions about potential manufacturing variations or wear on frequently handled demo units.

Samsung previously stated the Z Fold 7’s hinge incorporates an enhanced water droplet design and a multi-rail structure to reduce crease visibility and evenly disperse stress.
