The incident began when a state trooper pulled over a vehicle near Blue Grass Airport. The suspect opened fire, wounding the trooper, before carjacking a vehicle and fleeing to Richmond Road Baptist Church. Inside the church, the suspect shot four individuals, killing two women, aged 72 and 32, and wounding two men. One of the injured men is in critical condition, while the other is stable. The state trooper is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Police confirmed that three Lexington police officers fired their weapons, fatally wounding the suspect.
