Remains of Final Missing Camp Mystic Counselor Katherine Ferruzzo Recovered

The search for Katherine Ferruzzo, a 19-year-old Camp Mystic counselor, has concluded with the recovery of her remains. Ferruzzo was the last individual unaccounted for following the devastating July 4 floods that swept through Kerr County.
A recent graduate of Memorial High School, Katherine Ferruzzo was deeply committed to working with children, particularly those with special needs. She had planned to attend the University of Texas at Austin this fall to pursue a career in special education teaching.
Her family confirmed the discovery of her remains on Friday and expressed gratitude to the search and rescue teams, including the Texas Rangers, and numerous volunteers. In memory of Katherine’s dedication and compassion, her family announced the establishment of the Katherine Ferruzzo Legacy Foundation, which will support individuals with special needs and learning differences. Further details regarding donations are expected soon.
The family extended thanks to the Houston and Camp Mystic communities for their support and requested privacy during this tragic time, also offering prayers for other families affected by the floods. Ferruzzo was among at least 28 Camp Mystic counselors and campers, along with owner Dick Eastland, who perished in the flood along the Guadalupe River.
