Five individuals sustained injuries after a boat exploded near Lake Lanier Islands on July 4th, prompting a swift emergency response from Hall County authorities. The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. in the vicinity of Margaritaville, according to Kimberlie Ledsinger with Hall County Fire Rescue.

Upon arrival, rescue boat crews discovered a vessel engulfed in five-foot flames with five patients in need of immediate care. Four of the injured were airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where they are reported to be in stable condition.

The blaze was successfully extinguished using a portable pump and assistance from Gainesville Fire’s Marine Rescue boat. The damaged vessel has since been towed ashore. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office and the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office are actively investigating the cause of the explosion.
