Tech titan Elon Musk has unleashed a scathing attack on a major domestic policy package backed by former President Donald Trump, labeling it “utterly insane and destructive” just hours before a critical Senate vote. Musk’s remarks, made on Saturday, June 28, 2025, intensify his ongoing criticism of the proposed legislation.

Musk, who was photographed with Trump on May 30, 2025, at the White House, specifically condemned provisions within the bill that he claims would raise taxes on vital clean energy projects, including solar, battery, geothermal, wind, and nuclear energy. This stance aligns with his business interests, as his company Tesla produces and installs battery energy storage systems and solar photovoltaics.

In a post on X, the social network he owns, Musk asserted the bill would “destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!” He further criticized it for offering “handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future.” The contentious bill also includes a new subsidy for coal used in steel production.
