A precarious ceasefire, brokered by the United States on June 24, is currently holding between Israel and Iran, following a brutal 12-day conflict that erupted on June 13, 2025. The intense hostilities saw Israel launch widespread air strikes on Iranian military and nuclear facilities, prompting Iran to retaliate with hundreds of ballistic missiles targeting Israeli cities.

The conflict escalated significantly with the US intervening on June 22, conducting bunker-buster strikes on key Iranian nuclear sites. By June 24, hours after Iran had targeted a major US airbase in Qatar, the ceasefire was announced, bringing a halt to the relentless exchanges of fire.

Casualties on both sides have been substantial. According to Iran’s Ministry of Health and Medical Education, as of June 24, 610 Iranians were killed, including 49 women and 13 children, with thousands more injured and significant damage to public infrastructure. The youngest victim was a two-month-old infant. In Israel, the Ministry of Health reported 28 fatalities and 3,238 injured or hospitalised as of the same date, with Iranian missiles causing damage to residential areas, particularly in Tel Aviv and Haifa.

The conflict led to mass displacement within Iran, with nearly nine million people attempting to flee major cities like Tehran towards northern provinces. The comprehensive data reveals at least 145 Israeli and US air strikes on Iran, while Iran launched at least 120 attacks on Israel, many of which were intercepted. This period marks a devastating chapter for both nations, with millions affected by the violence and uncertainty.
