New details have emerged regarding the Manchester synagogue attack, revealing that assailant Jihad Al-Shamie, 35, pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group during a 999 call. The call was reportedly made after Al-Shamie’s vehicle crashed into a wall following his assault on worshippers.

The incident, which occurred on October 2nd at approximately 09:30 BST, saw two Jewish men, 66-year-old Melvin Cravitz and 53-year-old Adrian Daulby, killed near the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue on Middleton Road. Al-Shamie was subsequently shot dead by police outside the synagogue, where he was found wearing a fake bomb vest.

Counter Terrorism Police North West confirmed the timing of the 999 call. Further tragic details include Mr. Daulby being struck by a police bullet that penetrated the synagogue door during the exchange of fire with Al-Shamie. Another individual, Yoni Finlay, is recovering in hospital after also being hit by a police bullet. Two other men remain hospitalized with serious injuries, including one who sustained stab wounds to the neck and chest.

Police reports indicate Al-Shamie had visited the synagogue approximately 15 minutes before the attack and was asked to leave due to “suspicious” behaviour. Footage obtained by the BBC shows him walking near the synagogue, where he is believed to have parked his black Kia Picanto, a vehicle matching the description of the one used in the attack.

Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Sir Stephen Watson has assured the public that “every available resource” is being dedicated to the investigation, promising that answers will be provided as soon as appropriate. The force emphasizes its commitment to uncovering the full circumstances of the attack.
