New details have emerged regarding the recent deadly shooting at a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility, with FBI Director Kash Patel revealing extensive pre-attack planning by the assailant.

The gunman, identified as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, reportedly researched Department of Homeland Security (DHS) facilities and the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in the days leading up to Wednesday’s attack. Patel stated Thursday that investigators have been working tirelessly, seizing devices and exploiting data from the shooting location and Jahn’s home, confirming a “high degree of pre-attack planning.”

Jahn is alleged to have downloaded a document titled ‘Dallas County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management,’ which listed DHS facilities, and conducted multiple searches for ballistics and the Charlie Kirk shooting video between September 23-24. Further evidence indicates that from August 19-24, he searched for apps designed to track the whereabouts of ICE agents.

A chilling handwritten note recovered during the investigation reportedly read, “Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror, to think, ‘is there a sniper with AP rounds on that roof?'” “AP” is believed to refer to armor-piercing rounds.

During the attack, Jahn fired at the ICE building and a van, indiscriminately killing one detainee and injuring two others, one of whom was a Mexican national. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed Jahn died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

In response to the incident, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has ordered a nationwide increase in security at ICE facilities. DHS has also publicly attributed blame to rhetoric from the “far-left.” This remains a developing story as investigations continue.
