Google is pushing forward with its long-rumored plans to bring Android to personal computers, merging the popular mobile OS with ChromeOS. The ambitious vision was teased at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit, where Google’s head of platforms and devices, Rick Osterloh, and Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon shared insights into their collaborative efforts.

Amon, who stated he has personally seen the software, enthusiastically described it as ‘incredible’ and noted, ‘It delivers on the vision of convergence of mobile and PC. I can’t wait to have one.’

Osterloh confirmed that Google is building a ‘common technical foundation’ for PCs and desktop systems, integrating Gemini and the full Android AI stack, along with its extensive application and developer community. This move aims to expand Android’s reach across all computing categories. The announcement comes as Qualcomm prepares to reveal its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset later today, expected to power these new generation devices.
