Samsung’s highly anticipated One UI 8.5 update for Galaxy devices is generating significant buzz as new leaks reveal a comprehensive overhaul, prominently featuring expanded AI capabilities and a striking “Liquid Glass” design aesthetic. These early insights suggest a significant leap forward in user experience for Galaxy smartphone owners.

At the heart of One UI 8.5 lies a substantial expansion of Galaxy AI, introducing four new categories of intelligent features. “Meeting assist” will provide real-time translation for conversations and presentation screens, while “Touch assistant” aims to boost reading efficiency by processing on-screen text. The “Smart clipboard” is set to offer intelligent recommendations for copied content, including options to correct, summarize, translate, and search. Lastly, “Social composer” will empower users to generate social media posts from uploaded images and craft product reviews based on purchases. The update is also expected to integrate external AI agents like Gemini, Gauss Cloud, and Perplexity, potentially replacing the traditional Google Search bar with a focus on concise, three-sentence responses.

Beyond AI, One UI 8.5 appears to be embracing a new visual identity. Leaked images of the My Files and Samsung Phone apps showcase a “Liquid Glass” design, characterized by circular categories and a sleek, modern feel. While not identical, the aesthetic bears a notable resemblance to Apple’s recent iOS design language, signaling a potential shift in Samsung’s UI philosophy.

Further leaks hint at additional enhancements, including a version of Pixel’s Call Screening for Galaxy phones, a “Private Display” feature to limit screen visibility from side angles, an NFC trigger for Quick Share, and the return of pollen information in the Samsung weather app.

While Samsung is currently focused on the stable rollout of One UI 8, these leaks provide an exciting glimpse into the future, with One UI 8.5 expected to debut on the Galaxy S26 series early next year.
