MediaTek Unleashes Dimensity 9500: Next-Gen Android Flagships Imminent for Q4 2025

MediaTek’s highly anticipated Dimensity 9500, the company’s third-generation ‘all big-core’ System-on-Chip (SoC), is now ready to power flagship Android devices expected to launch in Q4 2025. This new processor promises significant advancements in gaming performance and AI processing, setting the stage for a new wave of high-end smartphones before the year’s end.

Built on an advanced 3nm process, the Dimensity 9500 features an 8-core architecture utilizing Arm’s C1-Ultra, C1-Premium, and C1-Pro processors. This ‘big-core’ design, further refined from previous generations, offers a distinct approach compared to rivals like Qualcomm, which still integrates efficiency cores.

Users can expect substantial performance gains, with MediaTek reporting a 55% increase in peak performance efficiency and 16% better multi-core performance over its predecessor. The chip also incorporates UFS 4.1 storage with four lanes, facilitating faster AI operations.

AI capabilities are a major highlight, driven by a 9th-generation NPU 990. This NPU boasts double the power and improved efficiency through ‘always-on small models,’ enabling Android devices to generate 4K images directly on-board. Enhanced low-bit support also optimizes small processes, particularly benefiting Gemini integration across Android.

Beyond raw power, the Dimensity 9500 elevates mobile photography with support for up to 200MP camera processors and NPU-assisted focusing. Gamers will benefit from the Arm G1-Ultra GPU, which delivers higher peak performance and an impressive 119% faster raytracing benchmarks, aiming for 120fps gameplay in supported titles.

With flagship devices from manufacturers like Vivo and Oppo confirmed to feature the Dimensity 9500, the final quarter of 2025 is poised to introduce a new era of performance and intelligence to the Android ecosystem.
