Microsoft has announced a new round of price increases for its Xbox consoles, with the changes set to take effect starting October 3. This marks another significant adjustment to console pricing, impacting various models across the Xbox Series S and Series X lineup.

Consumers can expect to see price bumps ranging from $20 for the entry-level Xbox Series S (512GB), now priced at $400, to a substantial $70 increase for the Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Special Edition, which will now cost $800. The Xbox Series S (1TB) will rise to $450, while both the Xbox Series X Digital and standard Xbox Series X will see a $50 increase, reaching $600 and $650 respectively.

These new prices place some Xbox models at a premium compared to competitors. For instance, the Xbox Series X Digital, lacking a disc drive, will now be $50 more expensive than Sony’s PS5 Digital Edition. The $800 Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Special Edition will even surpass the $750 PS5 Pro in price, despite the latter offering superior performance.

Microsoft attributes the adjustments to “changes in the macroeconomic environment.” The company has also been increasingly focusing on expanding the “Xbox experience” beyond its dedicated consoles, including publishing games on other platforms and exploring initiatives like Xbox game streaming and handheld devices.
