As Saturday Night Live gears up for its highly anticipated Season 51, veteran cast member Chloe Fineman has offered her candid reaction to the significant cast changes, describing the shakeup as “pretty wild.” The NBC late-night sketch show is set to return with a mix of familiar faces and new talent, following several notable departures.

Speaking on the eve of the new season, Fineman admitted to Extra that she hasn’t “fully processed anything” regarding the changes. “Some shocking stuff, a little heartbreak, sadness,” she shared, acknowledging the emotional impact of cast transitions. Fineman, entering her seventh year on the show, emphasized the cyclical nature of SNL’s cast, noting, “The show has such a turnover… these people stay in your lives and I’m excited for the new people.”

Season 51 will see the departure of long-standing cast members including Heidi Gardner (after eight seasons), Michal Longfellow (three seasons), Devon Walker (three seasons), Emil Wakim (one season), and John Higgins from the Please Don’t Destroy troupe. Returning alongside Fineman are fan favorites like Kenan Thompson, Michael Che, Colin Jost, Marcello Hernández, Ego Nwodim, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, James Austin Johnson, Sarah Sherman, and Bowen Yang.

New additions to the cast include Ben Marshall, a founding member of Please Don’t Destroy, and newcomers Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Kam Patterson, and Veronika Slowikowska. Fineman light-heartedly quipped about the youth of the new cast, saying, “When I saw how young the new cast was, I immediately got a laser [facelift].” She also expressed her eagerness to parody political figures in the upcoming season.
