Washington — Explosive excerpts from former Vice President Kamala Harris’s forthcoming book, ‘107 Days,’ reveal her strong disapproval of former President Joe Biden’s decision to seek re-election, characterizing it as a choice driven by ‘an individual’s ego, an individual’s ambition’ that should not have been a solely personal matter. The revelations, published Wednesday in The Atlantic, precede the book’s scheduled release on September 23.

Harris, who became the presumptive Democratic nominee in July 2024 after Biden withdrew from the race, criticizes what she calls the ‘recklessness’ of leaving such a high-stakes decision to the former president and first lady alone. She writes, “‘It’s Joe and Jill’s decision.’ We all said that, like a mantra, as if we’d all been hypnotized… In retrospect, I think it was recklessness. The stakes were simply too high.”

The former vice president also reflects on her own position, acknowledging that while she contemplated advising Biden against running, she felt she was “in the worst position to make the case that he should drop out,” fearing it would appear “incredibly self-serving.”

Beyond the re-election decision, Harris’s memoir is deeply critical of Biden’s inner circle, alleging that his team often failed to defend her against unfair attacks and even “was adding fuel to negative narratives that sprang up around me,” including claims of a ‘chaotic’ office environment.

Despite her criticisms, Harris offers a qualified defense of Biden’s presidency, stating, “On his worst day, he was more deeply knowledgeable, more capable of exercising judgment, and far more compassionate than Donald Trump on his best.” However, she candidly admits that at 81, “Joe got tired,” while clarifying, “I don’t believe it was incapacity. If I believed that, I would have said so.” The book’s release on September 23, 2025, is expected to reignite discussions about the 2024 election and Harris’s political future, particularly given speculation about a potential 2028 presidential bid.
