House Speaker Mike Johnson has issued a clarification regarding his recent comments about former President Donald Trump‘s involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. Speaking to reporters at the Capitol on Monday, Johnson walked back his earlier suggestion that Trump may have been an FBI informant in the high-profile case.

“I don’t know if I used the right word,” Johnson stated, addressing the media. “I said FBI informant. I’m not sure — I wasn’t there. This isn’t my lane. I’m just repeating what is common knowledge and has been out in the public for a long time: President Trump was never a hindrance to the Epstein investigation. He was trying to assist in that.”

The Speaker’s remarks come as the House Oversight Committee, led by Republican Rep. James Comer of Kentucky, continues its probe into the Epstein affair. Johnson confirmed the committee plans to visit the disgraced financier’s estate to examine visitor logs and other pertinent information as part of their ongoing inquiry.
