In a significant announcement from a British GQ interview published September 3rd, acclaimed actor Jonathan Bailey has revealed plans to step back from acting in 2026 to dedicate his efforts to his LGBTQ+ charity, the Shameless Fund.

The “Bridgerton” and “Wicked” star, who has been working consistently for the past three years, cited “everything happening in the world right now” as a primary motivator for his decision. Bailey will focus on staffing and developing the Shameless Fund, which he founded to uplift and protect queer individuals through the power of celebrity and creative collaborations.

Fans will still see Bailey on screen before his hiatus, with the highly anticipated “Wicked: For Good” sequel set for release this November. He also recently starred in July’s blockbuster “Jurassic World Rebirth” and earned an Emmy nomination for his role in 2023’s “Fellow Travelers.” However, his primary focus for the entirety of 2026 will be to support the LGBTQ+ community in the U.K. through his philanthropic endeavors.
