Tensions are rising as negotiations between ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) parties and the Knesset reach a critical juncture. With a looming deadline, pessimism is mounting within the United Torah Judaism (UTJ) party regarding a compromise on a new draft law.

Sources within UTJ report significant disagreements remain, suggesting an agreement is unlikely. Unless a breakthrough occurs imminently, all Haredi MKs are expected to vote for Knesset dissolution later today.

Meanwhile, representatives from Degel HaTorah, along with Shas negotiators Ariel Attias and MK Yinon Azulai, are currently engaged in urgent talks. However, a key player remains absent from the discussions.

“Netanyahu is still not engaged,” a UTJ source revealed. The source emphasized that the Haredi parties cannot accept the proposed draft law’s immediate and sweeping sanctions, warning of escalating consequences if the current impasse continues.

The source expressed frustration with the coalition’s inflexible position, stating, “They want to draft Haredim but are throwing out the baby with the bathwater. No Haredi will be drafted this way.”

The coming hours will be crucial, determining whether a last-minute agreement can be reached or if Israel faces the prospect of another election.
