Bradford James Gille, 42, of Afton, is accused of randomly attacking victims with a folding knife. The footage depicts Gille, wearing a dark cap and light shirt, lunging at shoppers throughout the store before being confronted by brave civilians. The video shows him attacking multiple individuals inside and just outside the store, with one customer seen collapsing on the pavement. Shoppers are credited with intervening, with two individuals pushing shopping carts at the assailant and others cornering him until a sheriff’s deputy arrived to take him into custody.
The attack injured six male and five female victims. Gille faces severe charges, including one count of terrorism and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder, each carrying a potential life sentence. His family has cited a long history of mental health issues, including paranoid schizophrenia. Gille remains held on a $1 million bond, with his next court appearance scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday at the 86th District Court in Traverse City.
