A large fire has broken out at a fuel depot in Odesa, southwestern Ukraine, following an alleged Russian strike. Regional head Oleh Kiper confirmed that a site belonging to the Azerbaijani oil company Socar was damaged in the overnight attack.

Images circulating online show firefighters battling an extensive blaze in an industrial area. While initial footage was difficult to verify due to night-time conditions, BBC Verify has confirmed the location to the north-west of Odesa through detailed video analysis, matching a silo bearing the Socar name.

Further corroboration comes from Nasa’s heat-detection system Firms, with satellites identifying significant hot spots at the same coordinates. As of now, no deaths or injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
