Thousands Protest Israel in NYC Amidst Renewed Activism

NEW YORK – Thousands of protesters recently gathered in New York City, marking the largest pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel demonstration seen in the city in recent months. The rally, dubbed “Stop Starving Gaza: Mass March for Humanity,” took place outside the New York Public Library in Manhattan and was organized by a coalition of Arab-led and far-left activist groups.
Participants, many waving Palestinian flags, chanted slogans such as “End the siege on Gaza now!” and held signs demanding an end to the conflict and calling for accountability. Brian Becker of the Answer Coalition addressed the crowd, asserting the American people’s solidarity with Palestinians against the US government’s stance. The demonstration also saw the participation of Mahmoud Khalil, a prominent activist recently released from federal detention, who spoke to the crowd about the destruction in Gaza, attributing it to American support.
This significant turnout follows a period of decreased major anti-Israel street protests in New York. However, activists have initiated a new series of regular rallies in anticipation of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly scheduled for September in the city. The protest garnered support from over 200 groups nationwide, with participants bused in from multiple states and Washington D.C., including key organizations like the People’s Forum, ANSWER Coalition, Democratic Socialists of America, CodePink, Palestinian Youth Movement, and Jewish Voice for Peace.
