Teacher Accused in Arkansas Park Murders Pleads Not Guilty
Andrew James McGann, the teacher charged with capital murder in the fatal stabbing of two hikers at Devil’s Den State Park, entered a not guilty plea during a hearing Thursday. McGann is accused of killing Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, on July 26 while they were hiking with their two young daughters, who were unharmed.
The plea was entered before Circuit Judge Joanna Taylor at the Washington County jail, where McGann is being held without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for November 14. Authorities arrested McGann on July 30, and he reportedly admitted to the killings, with investigators matching his DNA to blood found at the crime scene. A motive for the attack at the 2,500-acre state park, located northwest of Little Rock, has not been publicly disclosed.
