Fort Stewart Shooting: Suspect in Custody After Five Soldiers Injured, Investigation Underway

Five soldiers were injured in a shooting incident at Fort Stewart in Georgia on Wednesday, with authorities confirming a suspect is now in custody. The immediate threat at the Army installation, located approximately 40 miles from Savannah, has been neutralized, and a temporary lockdown has been lifted.
According to Army officials, law enforcement responded to the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area at 10:56 a.m. local time, apprehending the shooter by 11:35 a.m. All five injured soldiers received initial treatment on-site before being transported to Winn Army Community Hospital for further care. No fatalities have been reported.
Fort Stewart has assured the community that there is no active threat, and the incident remains under investigation. The FBI Atlanta’s Savannah office is coordinating with the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division to probe the shooting.
