New renders and insider reports suggest a significant design overhaul for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra, featuring the reintroduction of a prominent camera bump. This marks a departure from the current Galaxy S25 Ultra‘s flat camera design, signaling a strategic shift for the flagship device.

According to prolific leaker ‘Ice’, the redesigned camera island will house the primary, ultrawide, and 5x telephoto lenses. This change is driven by the integration of larger apertures for the main and 5x telephoto cameras, which will allow more light in but require additional physical space. Despite this addition, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is surprisingly expected to be thinner than its predecessor, the S25 Ultra, showcasing Samsung’s engineering prowess.

Another leaker, @kro_roe, has corroborated these details, adding that the cameras will feature distinct rings around them. Beyond the aesthetic and functional camera changes, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is anticipated to boast improved battery and charging specifications and will likely be powered by the next-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for Galaxy chip. This strategic redesign aims to build on the success of the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 7, reinforcing Samsung’s leading position in the smartphone market.
