Ghislaine Maxwell, convicted associate of deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, is slated to meet with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in the coming days, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Monday. Maxwell’s counsel has confirmed discussions with the government, stating she will “always testify truthfully.”

This development comes as calls for transparency in the Epstein case intensify. On Tuesday, a House Oversight subcommittee approved a motion to subpoena Maxwell for testimony. Republican Rep. Tim Burchett, who offered the motion, stated, “It’s about to get real,” with Chairman James Comer vowing to issue the subpoena “as expeditiously as possible.”

The Justice Department’s willingness to meet with Maxwell marks a shift, as Blanche noted no prior administration had inquired about her willingness to speak with the government. President Donald Trump, who recently ordered the DOJ to release all grand jury testimony related to Epstein, subject to court approval, commented Tuesday that he “doesn’t know a thing” about the meeting but that it “sounds appropriate.”

The meeting and subpoena efforts unfold despite a July 6 statement from the DOJ and FBI asserting they would not release additional Epstein files and found no evidence to predicate investigations against uncharged third parties. Maxwell was convicted of sex trafficking and other charges in 2022 and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
